Rocketry
(1960 - 1966)

Rocketry was a passion of Manougian since his childhood. Following his B.A. degree and upon joining the faculty at Haigazian University (formerly Haigazian College) where he taught mathematics and physics, he initiated the Haigazian College Rocket Society. Together with five of his science students he embarked on a program experimenting with propellants and rocket design. In the early stages, several rockets ranging from 3-ft. to 5- ft in length were launched successfully.

A year later two-stage rockets           were constructed and launched.           The first group included rockets           measuring about 11 ft in length           with a range of 8 miles

Six years later, from a humble beginning, the program culminated with the successful launching of a 19-ft two-stage rocket with a range of 90 miles.
